Survey for the Creator - Felix by ~FelixXelon:iconFelixXelon:

Survey for the Creator - as created by *TasteForInsanity

1. Do you create different worlds/series for your characters or do you put them all/most of them in the same time and place?

A lot of the characters I currently have; those also in my “main project”, which I haven’t posted on dA, are simply single-series characters, however, there are one or two who do actually come from some of my other works. (for example, there is a character called Loki in my “The Ways of War”; there is also a younger Loki in my main project with a similar design. “Main Project” Loki was before TWOW Loki)

2. Do you sit down and create random facts about these worlds that have nothing to do with the story line? (History, biology, zoology etc.)

I actually do; for my main project, I’ve considered a few things for Governments, wildlife and other lore for places that actually aren’t featured in the story and more recently, I’ve been doing a lot of history to it. One example would be a submission I made for Rennard; a very close friend of mine.

3. Do you have a plot line? If yes, do tell.

Hmm.. where to start..

Datèqui - Future Project

‘Datèqui is one of the biggest cities on the continent, but is constantly at war with the one who calls himself “Earth’s Guardian”. With territories around Datèqui suffering from the so-called bandit, Datèqui attempt to quell the “rebellion”, but is all as it seems, in the city known as Datèqui? Anita Taea is the final warrior to challenge the “Earth’s Guardian”... but what will happen when the two finally cross paths?’

The Ways of War - Short Project

‘A simple guy, living in a quiet village gains the shock of his life when he finds out that the father he thought died a simple man, was actually the ruler of a powerful Kingdom; LeQuill. Suddenly, Arbel faces many challenges in his life, but the primary one stands to being if he should truly try to become a king. How will Arbel’s life be, should he decide to take up the challenge?’

Those are just a couple of them; I’ve decided not to do my main project for this one, despite the fact that I mention it a lot in this entire thing. I might edit it in, later..

4. Do you give a name to your series?

It was madness for a while, (with my main project) because it actually went unnamed for two versions, (neither of which were actually completed, and the third (and FINAL) version is still nowhere near complete) before I created a clear name for it. However, I do tend to name my series’, since it creates a sense of individuality, for me.

5. Is your series dramatic, romantic, mysterious, exciting or similar to your own life?

It, in no way, shape or form, relates to my own life. It’s more of an action fantasy kind of story.. actually, a LOT of my works are along those lines and given the kind of setting I’m more comfortable with, which is a kind of medieval setting, with magic being a rather influential addition.

6. Have you got characters that live in "our" world?

No. But I do have characters that are roughly based off of people I know. The main character from my main project is actually named after a cat that I lost due to it being poisoned, a few years ago; that character also happens to be the name used on my dA account, and it’s kind of like one of those things you do as a remembrance of someone.

7. When you go to sleep, do you often let your thoughts slip into your worlds? How often does this happen?

Sometimes. It’s actually in dreams that I sometimes “see” some of the things I later include into my stories. Mostly, this only happens with my main project, though, and has actually had successful inclusions through Version 3.

8. Do you share your world or your characters with anyone else?

I do share my world with a friend, who is also a writer. Templar2464 has created a story that’s a little more action-heavy than my own; set on a distant continent to my main project. (so in the same world, but the world created is mine, while the continent his characters reside upon is his own) We’ve later included parts where our characters actually do meet, but due to recent changes in both of our stories, they are currently under review, due to the fact that a lot has changed, since we started.

9. Do you have friends that would rather not hear about this world of yours?

I actually wouldn’t know, because I’ve only spoken to a small number of people about my writing.

10. Is your world a place you go to when you're bored?

If you mean like daydreaming and such.. not really. Though I do tend to do stuff towards my stories, when I find something boring, or other such. In Uni, I sometimes write things down in notepads. lol

11. Do you find yourself in this world more often than in the real world?

Hmm.. during the day, not really, and I don’t think it really matters where I am, when I’m asleep. I love the world(s) that I create, but for some reason, I never really tend to daydream about them.

12. Have your relatives been worried about you because of your love for you world?

Not really; let me take you back a few questions. Not a great deal of people who I actually write, in my local area; more directly, it’s just about only my collaborative friend, Templar2464, although my mother does know that I do write. But that’s as far as her knowledge goes, on the subject.

13. Do you bother to write down the stories you make before the idea runs away?

I have to; otherwise the concept is lost forever in the black hole that is my brain. I’ve actually lost a couple of ideas for not writing them down soon enough, and I make it essential that I have some form of writing equipment, in case I come up with something, while I’m out.

14. Have you found or remembered stories you created years back and then laughed or cried because it was so childish?

I actually have; but only one, since I wasn’t that big of a writer, back in the day. Back in primary school, I made a fanfic-like story using the early characters from Sonic the Hedgehog, and some of the stuff I wrote was.. hilariously interesting.

15. Ever found yourself losing the grip of a film because you started thinking about your world in stead?

No, because the concept of my stories is one that doesn’t really happen a great deal, in films. Although it mostly happens in Anime and Manga, I stay enthralled by it because of its similarity to my story. Really, it’s like another learning medium, if I come across something that is similar to my world, and thus, I come up with new things to add to it, or later sequels/etc. of it.

16. Have you ever paired up some of your own characters that are not canon just to make it "hot"?

Nope; I’m more into the story than pairings.

17. Do you have more homosexual, bisexual or heterosexual characters?

I actually haven’t thought about it, but I could say that I don’t use those kinds of characters, currently; probably mainly because I actually haven’t considered pairings within or outside of the story, nor the sexual orientation of the characters within it.

18. Do you have more female or male characters?

Heheh.. probably more female characters; there are a LOT of female characters in my main story, but I actually haven’t totalled them up for both genders. It could turn out to be equal, but I personally think, off the top of my head, that I have more female characters than male.

19. Do you have more human (normal people, mutants, centaurs, mermaids etc), animal (normal animals, anthros etc), vegetable (trees, tree people), mineral (rocks?), extra terrestrial or other characters?

Hmm.. mostly normal Human characters, but in my main project, I’ve got a number of Races. These Races either have a similar look to Humans with just marking/symbols/”tattoos” to signify the difference, while others have the typical Human body with animal ears and tails. Each of these Races have certain characteristics and abilities over the others.

20. Name the characters that are most similar to your personality.

Probably the main character, (named by my dA account name) Felix. He is kind of semi-based off of me, in a way, though.. so it isn’t really surprising, I guess. Only thing is, I try making characters really unique.

21. Name the characters that are the least similar to your personality.

Probably most definitely Rennard. A hard-hitting tactician that drinks loads of tea? You know that can only be done by one person. Ha!

22. Name the characters that look the most like you.

I try to make my characters have different looks than myself, and people I know, so I can safely say that none of them should look like me.

23. Name the characters that look the least like you.

All. Because I try to make them unique.

24. Name a few characters that you have "deleted" from existence.

Not really deleted.. but some characters I started the concept for were adopted by my friend, Templar2464. These were because they either didn’t fit in well with my story, or I had nowhere to put them. One of them being Marina, who was originally going to be the kind of character that got her own way with her looks, while the other was a vicious alchemist, I think.. I can’t remember too much about the latter, because she was scrapped pretty quickly. Some characters haven’t even been featured, yet, and will make appearances in the sequel to my main project.

25. Name your first character.

The first character I ever truly created was Felix O. Xelon; a young “Kitsune” boy who lived with (effectively adopted) a family in another town, due to the fact that he had lost his parents in a vicious war that raged for seven years. Through the experience, he actually witnessed the demise of his parents; both at the time and continuously, in his nightmares.

26. Do you still write about/draw/think about him or her or it?

Of course; he’s in my main project, so I’m always keeping him “in the loop”, so to speak.

27. Have you ever created your own species? Tell me about it.

I wouldn’t say I’ve created my own species, but I have created some interesting concepts for characters’ Races. For example, similar to summoning beasts from games such as Final Fantasy, there is a Race that can do something similar, in my main project. The major difference with these, however, is that the people of my story believe them to be Gods, rather than just beasts, which is a common interpretation in the Final Fantasy universe.

28. Do you have a world you created "just for the heck of it"? Tell me about it.

I actually did; it was one of my unoriginal works, back when I never felt like writing, and thought it was just like school/college work. In college, this lecturer wanted us to write a story in an original(ish) setting, so I created a few characters, a small portion of a world and just stuck “Final Fantasy” on it, because I was feeling very unoriginal and uninspired. Come the end of the College year, I actually got so into writing, I created a more original setting, and thus, my main project was born, about 3-4 years ago. Heheh..

29. Do you have characters nobody knows about? Is this because you don't want people to know or is it just like that?

I do. But that’s mainly because they haven’t made appearances, yet.

30. Ever wanted to create something, but realised it would be too much alike to something that already exists? Did you still keep the world?

Yes, and its actually being considered for a dA project. I’m thinking about making a futuristic world (a first for me; a medieval-type of person) with a unique fuel source and your generic Japanese-style bipedal robots. I’m still planning on creating it, but I haven’t done a great deal of anything towards planning it, and I do not want to start the story because it’s so raw, right now.

31. A Mary Sue (MS) is a fictional character who is "perfect" in every way. She's gorgeous, she's friends with everyone, everyone has a crush on her, and her only enemies are the girls who are jealous of her looks. Mainly exists in fanfiction. Tell me, if you have one of these, and when you realised she was a Mary Sue.

Nope. None of my characters are “Mary Sue”. Funnily enough, characters even get colds and such, through the story; more specifically dependant on where they are, and such, and even “lose” in battle. Making a perfect character isn’t really what I want to do; I just make characters that fit the story, and “Mary Sues” don’t fit very well in it.

32. Have you ever created an Anti-Sue? Tell me about it.

Not really. But my ideals for characters are that they all have their imperfections. “Perfect” characters are boring, (to me) in the way interpreted as “Mary Sue”.

33. Have anyone critiqued your world so far? How did you react?

I haven’t, but so long as it was constructive criticism, I wouldn’t mind. I really dislike people who just tear a hole in peoples’ concepts, without any clear cut reason, as such.

34. Have anyone told you how good your world is and encouraged you to keep it up?

Lots of people, when I used to share it between friends. But the main project fell into a private thing. I haven’t really gotten any comments on my dA projects, so for those, I don’t know.

35. Have you got high hopes about your world? Cartoon, comics, movies, radio shows?

I’m actually thinking as to if I should see if I can get it published, once I get it finished. I love my world so much, that I have high hopes for it actually becoming something that people pick up and read. It would please me to no end, knowing that people enjoy the world I created, as much as I do.

36. Do you wish you lived in your world?

More or less. I really like some of the concepts in my story and I think it would be awesome if I ended up in such a predicament. ‘Course, that’ll never happen.. heheh.

37. Do you exist in your world as a main character, a main character's friend/parent/child, or the lunch lady?

Though personalities between one character and me are somewhat similar, I don’t really believe that any of my characters are “me”. Like I mentioned earlier, I tend to prefer unique personalities for characters, as well as looks, so I can really say that no character is “me”.

38. What part of your world are you currently working on? Tell me about it! What's going on in your world right now?

Well, at the moment, in Version 3, the characters are going to meet a certain someone who is “isolated” on a snowy landscape.. only they don’t really like visitors..

Vague, I know, but that’s how I do things. Haha!

39. Tell me about a gap in your storyline you need to fix so badly.

My Epilogues that I have planned! At current, it’ll end up being like another little book, because I have sooooooo much I want to fit into it. At estimation, I’ll end up having about 7-8, if that’s at all possible.

40. Is your story focused on something? Religion, music, clothes and make-up, Mother Nature, personal views or...?

Hmm.. probably more towards the frailty of war and the power of magic, within my world. As well as some hidden lore and concepts, such as characters that have a constant struggle against each other, because of the weapons they wield. I can say that the main focus is really the views of the world that I’ve created, though.

41. Name some of your characters that have the direct opposite point of view as you on a topic.

Probably Drin Fargehn, who shows up in Rennard’s Chapter, in my dA Submissions. Though he seems like a nice enough character, he is actually a vicious ruler who later tries to destroy an entire Race, and ACTUALLY succeeds in destroying an entire Region.

42. How much details do you put into your characters' personalities and looks?

I try to add as much as I can, but I’m not really very good at including it into the stories, so that people can have the most clearest of pictures of what the character is like. I’m planning on fixing that, however.

43. More storytelling than characters or more characters than storytelling?

Hmm.. I think I have an equal amount, but I am heavy on storytelling. It comes from the fact that I prefer games that are really intense on story, rather than games that just go, “Okay; kill loads of guys, then move on!” which is probably the usual Shooter game.

44. Is there a moral behind anything in your world?

There are morals for everything. “The Ways of War” was actually created on a moral, and once I complete it, the moral of the story will come out.

45. Is it easier to create a new place than to place your characters in a place you've never been to before, let's say a place in England, America, Italy etc?

I’d say so; at least for me. If I wanted to put my characters somewhere in the world, I would have had to have actually been there, unless the story allows me to “destroy” what the place is. I’m one of those people who likes to make things pretty accurate.

46. Do you sometimes pretend your characters are real just for a brief second of loneliness?

Well.. I don’t really think so.. mainly because the characters are too “good” for a world this messed up. Haha! But in a way, I do tend to think about them, a fair bit. Such as, “What shall I have the character do, after this bit..?” but never pretending they’re real.

47. Ever taken cover behind your characters and let them do the talking?

Though sometimes I wish I could, (most of my characters have more self-confidence than I’ll ever have) I don’t. Though it sounds like a pretty interesting thing to envision, for any future PowerPoint presentations I need to do, in Uni. Haha!

48. Ever had a discussion with your characters?

Nope. The only discussion involving my characters has been when I’ve been talking about them to people.

49. Ever killed a character you really really liked?

At the moment, I haven’t really been killing off any characters in my stories, but I can predict that I will probably end up killing characters I like; it’s a way of life, and always happens in stories. There are a couple planned, but not certified for the conclusion of my first main project.

50. If you could be in your world for 24 hours, what would you do?

I’d travel across it. Or at least as far as I could; the transportation in my world isn’t exactly reliable for long-distances. Haha! Another thing I would probably do is wander around the main city that my story focuses on. I’d love to see what the city was like, in picture. Then I’d love to actually meet some of the characters that I’d created for that world. It’d be awesome to just talk to them, or see what they are like, outside of my head.

I randomly came across it from somewhere I can't remember and since I'm a creator of "worlds" and characters in writing, I thought I'd give it a shot. Its quite a nice little thing to do, for fun, and I'd suggest other writers do it, as well. =P
