L4D2 & Mashables

Fri Nov 27, 2009, 2:20 AM
Bored again.

Anyway, I've played L4D2 for the past week now, and I've got to say, the game is really good, albeit with a few issues. I personally think the hit detection of the melee weapons is off a little. I've had a few times where I'd swing for a zombie, only for it to miss at point-blank with the zombie in front of me, all because the thing started to make a right turn and swing to my left. Again, while directly in front of me. But its only really minor; I mostly use dual handguns, anyway. I only really use Melee in close quarters, like the beginning of Dead Center, but it made getting the "All Melee Only" achievement a little difficult. With that though, the melee troubles could just be me. Like I said, I'm more of a gun person, unless it comes to the Chainsaw. The baseball bat is awesome, though.

The characters are a little more likeable than I previously noted, with the exception of a rather bland Rochelle, who tends to have really cheap jokes. (one in particular being, "Let me 'axe' you a question!") Its still a fun game, though.

Blah blah blah, does anyone know about the "Mashable Awards"?

I only chanced on them while they were advertised on a site I was looking through.

In particular, the categories I'm talking about are "Best Online Video Web Series" and "Best Brand use of YouTube"; the specific show? "Internet Killed Television". I was curious as to why so many votes were going into that specific selection, so I had a bit of a search.

Seriously. Don't watch. Its a collection of over 200 videos showing the kind of life you could have, if you didn't watch their videos. (that's pretty much what it seems like, anyway; after 2 minutes of one video, I stopped watching) This is a particular reason I don't use blogs in the sense that most people do; because my life is boring and I'm sure others have things better to do than to read/watch what I do with my time. They deserve the votes about as much as Uwe Boll deserves the means to make movies.

But that's just my opinion. There's probably some Internet junkies out there who find the stuff really endearing or something, I dunno... I usually don't bother with crap like this, but when I see something that boring, its hard not to pass comment on it.

Shot through the heart, and you're to blame...

Thu Nov 19, 2009, 10:45 AM
...you give love, a bad name!

Anyway.

Left4Dead 2 is released in... just under 6 hours. Looking forward to snagging a copy of that for myself. Got it pre-ordered and everything. Just one thing I don't really like about it...

I don't think any of the characters are going to be as memorable as those in the original and from the trailer I watched for L4D2, about the only two that look to be pretty good are the big guy and the white guy who's taken Louis' role of wearing the suit. But I'll give 'em a chance. Its just that at first glance, the characters from the first were awesome.

I'm also picking up the Collector's Edition of Dragon Age: Origins, under advisement of some Uni mates. But that's for Christmas; the cheapness of parents makes them want to use my Student discount of 10% for their shopping needs, lol

Ahh well. As you probably noted, I'm listening to Bon Jovi. Because I can. So shut up.
xD

Next note, I bought the whole Lunar Legend Tsukihime Anime volumes today. Cost me a whole £10, it did. They were having an offer at the store I go to for my Anime and Manga (3 for £10) and seeing the two volumes of LLT sitting there, I couldn't help it. Went to the till to pay, waited for a while, pointed out a (partial) boxset of the series and got the first volume, along with the other two and the box itself for £10. Which is awesome, because its a pretty awesome box.

I still have a huge amount of Manga to read. But now, instead of sitting on my desk, they're sitting in my XBox 360 Elite box. Overflowing, but in, nonetheless.

Oh. Because I didn't have anywhere to go on about it before, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a damn awesome game; regardless of how little it changed from the original, Drake's Fortune. Its still a fun game, and was well worth getting the Collector's Edition for. It has an epic metal case.

That's about it, so I'll fall into my epically deep void for another few months... and don't forget...

Blabbing Time

Fri Sep 11, 2009, 10:45 AM
I'm bored, so I'm gonna blab for a bit.

I've made a (slow) start on the huge collection of Manga I currently have that I haven't read, yet. I finished Volume 9 of The Gentlemen's Alliance and am currently planning on shaving down some of those series' I have currently ongoing and holding off on those yet to start; an example of the latter being MagicalxMiracle.

In the gaming department, I've finished Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Twice... and am now planning on doing all of the optional post-game stuff, when I can. I've already made a start on The Seven Star Dungeon, though I'm not really looking forward to B5... why they had to make each of the 9 characters have 100 Battle Trophies is beyond me... I have 50%+ on most characters now, though the stupid exact figured ones annoy me greatly... particularly Sarah's 777 Recovery one...
Oh, and I got all the endings, too; 7 + the additional two secret endings.

I've finally gotten to Disk 2 of The Last Remnant. Spoilers towards bosses to follow:

-----------------------------------------------------------
The Gates of Hell were just as annoying as I'd heard they were; it took me 4 attempts before I finally got tactical and killed it. I had to exploit the tactic of hit-and-running to keep my party alive, since I didn't want to get hit by Pandemonium, which people who have already beat it will know is a royal pain having a union of your own resurrected and attacking YOUR OWN UNIONS. After Cyclops got resurrected by it, I knew I was done for on the 3rd attempt, but I only lost one union the final attempt, which didn't get afflicted by that nasty attack. Grenade Impact was a nasty one, too... it took out my unions in one, which really sucked in the second and third attempts, but it didn't use it in the fourth... huh...

The battle after that was ridiculously easy, though. I just annihilated Jager and his little pet bird, Lob Omen. It was a refreshing change; especially since I saw some people say that battle can still be difficult. But I found it really easy.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Ughh... I've probably got a whole bunch of stuff I could put here, but its stuff I can't be bothered with typing up. I'm selectively lazy that way.

Hello, my dearly abused dA Watchers!

Thought I'd pop by and make note of where I've been for the past month. Or so.

May conveniently nearly gave me a heart-attack, but somehow, I managed to get through Uni somewhat-without a problem. "Somewhat" because now I need to find a placement for the third year over the Summer and that could bode ill, because I'm being too picky and in all honesty feel more like throwing myself into my bedroom door than taking up a job in an IT environment.
With that, my inspiration is there, but I'm just not really in the mood for writing, what with all the boring cabbage I have to write for job placements, of which I have applied for a total of 1 so far, thanks to my disorganisation and confused state like being ambushed in a forest full of water. So far, I've made ONE paragraph-worth of progress on my Version 3 of my main project and that's still on the Chapter is was last Summer; Chapter 23.

Amidst the spiralling hectic real world screaming at me like 40 banshees and my up-and-down health, I've found myself more annoyed at writing and in general gaming for my lack of being able to bring myself to do either. Though I did get to enjoy another Nickelback gig on the 29th, so I'm pretty glad with that.

I think tomorrow, I'm going to sit down in front of this computer (I'm currently back to using my PC, for reasons unknown even to me) and literally just write, write, write until my fingers start to either bleed or fall off, because I really REALLY want to get my main project to its conclusion so I can start writing the sequel to which I have ideas bleeding out of my ears.

*deep sigh*

There. I feel better for that. XD
The original plan for "The White Curse" is still being used and as we speak, I'm planning some new ideas for it so that I can fina-frigging-lly get it under way. Hopefully it'll be entertaining for everyone.
